Renhan Haxball Rulebook, Version 1

1) Regular Season Match Format
2) Post-Season Match Format
3) Draft
4) Players and Transfers
5) League Structure
6) Wildcards
7) Captains Information
8) Miscellaneous

1) Regular Season Match Format

- 1.1) Regular Season League Matches are 4v4 on the stadium 'Big Easy'.

- 1.2) Matches are 7 minutes each half with teams swapping over from red to blue.

- 1.3) If matches are tied after the two 7 minute halves, a 5 minute golden goal overtime period will be played. Teams switch again from red to blue. Overtime will be 3v3 on the stadium ‘Big Easy’. The first goal in overtime is the winning goal.

- 1.4) If matches are tied after the 5 minute overtime period, a best-of-3 ice hockey-style shootout is played on the stadium ‘Classic’. 1 goal will be given for a shootout victory. A demonstration of a shootout can be seen here: http://haxballtube.com/watch/2397f3637e

- 1.5) Shootout rules
-      1.5.1) Any part of the goalkeepers circle must remain on or behind the line for the entirety of the penalty shot. If the goalkeeper goes off the line at any point during the shot, the shot is counted as a goal.
-      1.5.2) The taker must stay in constant motion for the entirety of the penalty shot. If the taker stops at any point during the shot, the shot is counted as a miss.
-      1.5.3) The penalty shoot-out will be a best-of-3 affair, similar to the best-of-5 penalty shootouts in football. If scores are tied after 3 penalties, it goes to sudden death with the same order from the first 3 takers.
-      1.5.4) The 3 takers must be the 3 players who finished the overtime period. Substitutions cannot be made after the end of overtime.
-      1.5.5) The goalkeeper for the shootout must remain the same for every single penalty shot.
-      1.5.6) For sudden death, the order cannot be changed from the original order for the first 3 shots.

- 1.6) 4v3 will be allowed if the both captains agree. The captain with 3 players has the right to forfeit and lose 5-0, but this can only be done before the game has started. It is not mandatory but encouraged for captains to postpone matches when teams only have 3 players. Games that are 4v3 can only got to a 5 goal difference (5-0, 6-1, 7-2 etc.) in favour of the team that has 4 players, this is the mercy rule and it is enforced by admins to stop stat padding.

- 1.7) No stats will be awarded in the event of a 'defwin'.

- 1.8) If a team has under 3 players then they will be given a defloss of 5-0. If after 15 mins after the scheduled kick off time a team does not have sufficient players to play the match, or is not prepared to play the match after agreeing on a host, then the opponent has the right to take the 5-0 defwin. Once again it is encouraged that a captain will postpone the game if their opponent does not have enough players but once again is not mandatory.

- 1.9) Players must use their registered forum names in matches or the opposing captain has the right to force a rematch.

- 1.10) Substitutions can be made after goals and at halftime, if a player disconnects from the game then they can be subbed back on to the pitch or a replacement can be subbed on if they have not returned after 2 minutes.

- 1.11) If a player is lagging and both captains agree then that player can be substituted. Captains are encouraged to 'fair play' in this instance to sub a lagging player off the pitch.

- 1.12) Preferably match hosts to be neutral, but can be from either team given that the ping is playable. If the person with 0 ping (i.e. the host) is in spectators for the entire match, the host is considered neutral. Another preferable option is each side hosting a half each.

- 1.13) Both captains have to agree on a match host and unless it suddenly becomes unplayable then at least that half will be played on that host. If it suddenly becomes unplayable and a new host is used, you play the remainder of the half starting from the score when play was stopped on the original host.

- 1.14) Use of handicap for match hosts if they are playing is not mandatory but is not discouraged.

- 1.15) A ping test is highly recommended to make sure that the ping is playable for both teams. If there are any problems then the admin team is always available to help, but do not bother us if we are in a league game.

- 1.16) If no playable host is available then the match will be either delayed on the same matchday or postponed to another matchday. It is not the job of the admins to find your match host, but of course we can help.

- 1.17) Match links should be linked either through teamspeak, private messaging on the forum or through your teams private forum, no match links should be linked on the chat, if it is then a chat mod or admin will clear the chat and the room will have to be re-hosted.

2) Post-Season Match Format

- 2.1) Post-Season League Matches are 4v4 on the stadium 'Big Easy'.

- 2.2) Matches are 10 minutes each half with teams swapping over from red to blue.

- 2.3) If matches are tied after the two 10 minute halves, 10 minute periods of golden goal overtime will commence. Overtime will be 4v4 on the stadium ‘Big Easy’. The first goal in overtime is the winning goal.

- 2.4) 4v3 will be allowed if the both captains agree.

- 2.6) No stats will be awarded in the event of a 'defwin'.

- 2.7) If a team has under 3 players then they will be given a defloss of 5-0.

- 2.8) Players must use their registered forum names in matches or the opposing captain has the right to force a rematch.

- 2.9) Substitutions can be made after goals and at halftime, if a player disconnects from the game then they can be subbed back on to the pitch or a replacement can be subbed on if they have not returned after 2 minutes.

- 2.10) If a player is lagging and both captains agree then that player can be substituted. Captains are encouraged to 'fair play' in this instance to sub a lagging player off the pitch.

- 2.11) The ‘home’ team will get host advantage. They can choose whether they want their player to host the full game or to get a neutral.

- 2.12) If the host is too laggy for one team then a new host should be found.

- 2.15) A ping test is highly recommended to make sure that the ping is playable for both teams. If there are any problems then the admin team is always available to help, but do not bother us if we are in a league game.

- 2.16) If no playable host is available then the match will be either delayed on the same matchday or postponed to another matchday. It is not the job of the admins to find your match host, but of course we can help.

- 2.17) Match links should be linked either through teamspeak, private messaging on the forum or through your teams private forum, no match links should be linked on the chat, if it is then a chat mod or admin will clear the chat and the room will have to be re-hosted.

3) Draft

- 3.1) Once the draft begins, captains have three minutes following the previous pick to make their choices. If they miss the three minute deadline, they will wait till the end of the round to pick.

- 3.2) For the season 1 draft the pick order will be done by random draw, but for future seasons it will be done based on positions from the previous seasons. The Grand Final series finalists will have the final two picks of the first round, with the Renhan Cup winner having the last pick of the round. The 1st pick will go to the team with the worst regular season record, 2nd pick to the second worse, and so on.

- 3.3) For the season 1 draft, the order will flip following the first round, and again after the second round etc. This means the team with the final first round pick will get the first second round pick, and the team with the first first round pick will get the last second round pick, and the first third round pick and so on. For future drafts, the order for the first round will be the same as the order for all following rounds.

- 3.4) The draft will continue until each team has met its minimum roster size.

- 3.5) Teams can choose to pick nobody for any of their picks in the draft. However if at the end of everybody’s picks, the team has less players than the minimum roster, they are forced to draft players until they meet the minimum roster size.

- 3.6) Only captains and vice-captains can make picks for their team. If neither of these will be online for the draft, they must send an admin a list of their picks plus backup picks. We request a list of at least twice the number of players they are going to draft.

4) Players and Transfers

- 4.1) Roster size cannot exceed 12 players and cannot go below 6 players.

- 4.2) There is unlimited cuts for a team, as long as their roster size does not go below 6 (including the captain).

- 4.3) Players signed must confirm in the free agency signs section of the website, and they must be signed at least 30 minutes before the game in question to be eligible to play in that game. This rule will be upheld even if the sign up period is missed by 1 second. If an ineligible player is played, the offending team will receive a 5-0 defloss for the match in question, or a rematch will take place if their opponents agree. If a team repeatedly breaks this rule, they will receive a point’s deduction and possibly a transfer embargo, subject to admins discretion.

- 4.4) No player can play for 2 teams in the same matchday.

- 4.5) A player can retire from a team if they wish. If a player retires from a team they cannot play for another team for the rest of the season, they can sign for another team in the next season however. A player can reverse their retirement by un-retiring but after un-retiring they are listed as a player of the team they retired from and would have to be traded or cut from that team to play for another.

- 4.6) Players can be traded between teams.

- 4.7) Draft picks from the first four rounds of the draft for future drafts can be traded, but only if the team still holds at least one pick from the first four rounds.

- 4.8) Players can move teams without that player having to be cut by doing a 'blank space trade' where a player is transferred to another team for nothing in return.

- 4.9) Only captains that have been in the captaincy role for at least 3 league games can be put into the non-playing manager mode. Managers do not take up a roster space but will have to remain as manager for at least 3 league games.

- 4.10) Players signed from the free agency must enter a process called 'waivers'

- 4.11) Waiver rules
- 4.11.1) Each team will receive a position in the waiver order, with the team first in the order having priority on any player entering the free agency.
- 4.11.2) Once one team has made a bid for a player entering the free agency; any team placed higher than them in the waiver order will have 48 hours to make a counter bid for the player. To determine which team signs the player at the end of the 48 hour period, the player will go to the team placed highest in the waiver order that had made a bid. If the team placed first in the waiver order makes a bid for the player, they may automatically sign them.
- 4.11.3) A team successfully making a signing from the free agency shall be moved to the back of the waiver order, moving any teams behind them up one place in the process.

- 4.12) A team may also loan a player from another team for a specific (single) matchday.

- 4.13) Loan rules
- 4.13.1) Teams can only loan in 1 player per season, and can only loan out 2 players each season.
- 4.13.2) The same player cannot be loaned in or out more than once per season.
- 4.13.3) Players cannot be loaned from the free agency.
- 4.13.4) Teams cannot loan a player if they already have 12 players in their roster (the maximum roster size).
- 4.13.5) Similar to trades, a thread must be made where both captains must confirm the loan. Once confirmed by both captains, the loan will last until the next match the loaning team play is completed.
- 4.13.6) Confirmation from both captains must be completed at least 30 minutes prior to the match in which the loanee plays. This rule will be upheld even if the sign up period is missed by 1 second. Violation of this rule will lead to the offending team receiving a 5-0 defloss for the match in question or a rematch taking place if their opponents agree. If a team repeatedly breaks this rule, they will receive a points deduction and possibly a transfer embargo, subject to admins’ discretion.
- 4.13.7) Loans can be cancelled by either party unless otherwise stated in the loan thread prior to 30 minutes to the loaning teams’ next match. This rule will be upheld even if the sign up period is missed by 1 second.
- 4.13.8) Players cannot play for two teams in the same matchday. Wildcarded matches counts as the matchday of the original match.
- 4.13.9) Loans will be prohibited for the post season (play-offs).

5) League Structure

- 5.1) There will be one conference of six teams, with each team playing each other twice, for a ten-game season.

- 5.2) In the regular season, 3 points are given for a win in regulation, 2 points for a win in overtime, 1 point for a loss in overtime and 0 points for a loss in regulation.

- 5.3) After the regular season finishes, the top four teams will face  each other in a playoff series, with the team finishing in fourth playing the team finishing in first, and the team finishing second facing the team in third for the season, with the team placed higher having the 'home advantage' in each case

- 5.4) The playoff semi finals will also be a best-of-3 series, with 1st place in the conference having ‘home’ advantage and being at ‘home’ for games 1 and 3. The winner of this series will advance to the Grand Final series.

- 5.5) The Grand Final series will be a best-of-5 series with the team with the highest points in the regular season having ‘home’ advantage, and being at ‘home’ for games 1, 2 and 5. The winner of the Grand Final series will win the Renhan Cup.

- 5.6) If teams have equal points at the end of the regular season, they are separated in this order:
-      Results between teams (head-to-head)
-      Goal difference
-      Goals scored
-      Wins in regulation
-      Goals per minute on the pitch (lower the better)

6) Wildcards

- 6.1) Each team will be assigned 2 'wildcards' for use in the league during regular season. An extra wildcard will be given to each team for the post-season, and wildcards can be carried over from the regular season into the post-season.

- 6.2) A wildcard can be played to postpone a match to a later date.

- 6.3) All wildcarded games must be played either before or on the last day of the regular season.

- 6.4) Wildcards must be played at least 30 minutes before the match in question to be valid.

- 6.5) Wildcarded games in the play-offs must be played before the next game in the series.

- 6.6) Wildcards must have the original date and time the game was meant to be played as well as a new date and time for the game to be played. Both captains have to agree on a time. If captains cannot agree then an admin will intervene.

- 6.7) If a new captain is put in place then the number of wildcards will be replenished for a team, obvious abuse of this rule will be stopped however.

7) Captain Information

- 7.1) Captains should have a replay of all of their matches in the league, so to ensure that a replay is acquired from each game we recommend that 2 players from each team (including the captain) as well as the match host record the match.

- 7.2) Match replays should be uploaded to http://www.haxballtube.com/. If there is no replay of a match then the game will be made to be replayed.

- 7.3) Admins reserve the right to punish any teams that repeatedly do not record matches, or if any captain withholds a match replay.

8)Miscellaneous

- 8.1) This league has a zero tolerance policy for macros, and players caught macroing will be banned for 1 season. Repeat offenders are banned for life.

- 8.2) If there is any impersonations in league matches then the user who impersonated will be banned for the season, also any captain that has purposely got a player to impersonate for their team will also be punished. Offending teams will receive a defloss and possibly a points deduction if an impersonator has partaken in the match.

- 8.3) Any obvious abuses of loopholes etc will be discussed amongst the admins, just because a certain rule (that common sense should dictate that you should not do) does not mean that you will not be punished for it.

- 8.4) Use of 'flag hack' or 'Haxball profiler' is allowed in the league.

- 8.5) We reserve the right to change and edit any rule we feel necessary to be changed.

- 8.6) No two players with the same IP address can play in league.

Allow draws tbh. 3v3 overtime in a 4v4 league makes no sense.
